Razan & Decoreat
Decoreat sounds just like what it is. Clever name. You might confuse these confections as flower arrangements or mere decorations, but they are really delicious treats. Therein lies the art in Razan’s decorated treats, and they look even more impressive in person.
Can you describe what your business does?
We offer unique, decorated, and themed food items, as well as buffet-style edible centerpieces such as towers and domes. We offer a variety of unique special gift ideas, alongside catering appetizers and desserts buffets for weddings, baby showers, corporate events...
Where did the idea come from?
I’m a fashion designer with a deep passion for creativity and innovation. For years, I ran my own fashion line, which was sold in boutiques across the United States. However, as my sons reached their teenage years, balancing the demands of frequent travel and the long commutes to Los Angeles—where all production took place—became increasingly difficult.
I made the heartfelt decision to sell my line and stay closer to home, prioritizing time with my boys. But as a designer at heart, I couldn’t stop creating. I began designing everything around me—including food.
What started as a fun, creative outlet quickly evolved. I found myself styling celebration buffets for friends and family, from birthdays to anniversaries. With the encouragement of those around me, I took the leap and launched my own food line: Decoreat.
Can you describe your typical workday?
Our process begins with understanding exactly what the customer is looking for. From there, we sketch the initial concept on paper and begin sourcing ingredients—starting with what’s in season, from fresh fruits and vegetables to other key elements that will help bring the vision to life.
When it’s time to execute the design, we head into the kitchen to refine and perfect the idea. Often, the creative process leads to slight adjustments from the original sketch, as we experiment with different colors, shapes, placements, and cuts. It’s a meticulous journey that continues until we achieve the best possible outcome—what we proudly call a piece of edible art.
What is your best-selling product?
Fruit platters are our best-selling product—and for good reason. Fruits are timeless crowd-pleasers, and our trays always feature creative elements like fruit-shaped flowers, butterflies, or other themed designs based on the customer’s request.
Each fruit is carefully selected not only for its freshness and flavor but also for its color, ensuring it complements the overall design. This attention to detail adds a personalized touch and transforms each tray into a visually stunning centerpiece.
Our fruit platters are especially popular because they bring vibrant color and elegance to any table—at a reasonable price. Pricing varies based on size, ranging from $100 to $250 for our extra-large boards.
What sets you apart from other businesses?
Our designs are truly unique. We always strive to create something original and fresh, rather than simply following popular trends. Even when customers send us reference photos, we use them as inspiration to develop our own creative interpretation—putting a distinctive twist on every request.
How is social media important to your business?
Social media has definitely opened new doors for us. When a story goes viral on platforms like Instagram, we quickly gain new followers—especially from the hospitality and events industry.
What are your thoughts on technology today?
We use iCloud to store most of our photos and data.
Regarding all the work that the business requires, do you hire contractors or does your family participate?
I do all the work. It helps that my husband and son are into tech; they help a lot.
How do you manage finding new customers, conducting outreach, and marketing?
I try to reach out to event planners either by visiting wedding expos or on social media
Practically speaking, how do you balance work, growth, and personal time?
It’s tough—especially when you do artisan work. You have to stay fully engaged and hands-on, and it's not always easy to rely on others. Social media has played a big role in exposing me to new ideas and has been an eye-opener, inspiring me in ways I never expected and introducing me to interests I hadn’t considered before.
Regarding the environment, social issues, and being a partner to the community, do you have any specific things your business focuses on?
I’m a strong believer in the power of giving—and I trust that generosity always finds a way to give back. Whether it’s supporting our community by collaborating with nonprofit organizations, providing opportunities by hiring and empowering people to thrive, or protecting the environment to ensure the sustainability of our resources, giving is at the heart of everything we do. It’s what keeps us moving forward with purpose.
What do you see as the outlook for the future of your business?
I envision Decoreat catering large social events, fundraisers, weddings, and more—operating from our own commercial kitchen
Do you have a final thought for the readers?
Always pursue your dreams, no matter how challenging or impossible they may seem. Just take it one step at a time.
How can people reach out to you online?
